THINGS I CAN USE FROM THIS LESSON:
Use the web site for lessons or projects in an on-line class
Make animation as an extra credit extension after an essay is written in class
Create animations for school-wide announcements
Writers had to clarify the content because of the rule of the software (one action or dialogue per scene)
Graphic organizer helped to be specific with content of each slide
EL students can collaborate to write the voice text and then they can hear it and change it if needed
Graphic organizer helps keep focused and acts as a check to ensure meaningful content
Modeling of the task and the type of text we were supposed to make
Time to play with and explore the program before we build our project
It is "writing light" where we can just do one sentence at a time without feeling overwhelmed
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
Do Storyboard before showing us the site (we had a tendency to be distracted by the animation)
Consider discussing audience and purpose with class before letting us loose
This is a hard lesson to do in a 75 minute time, maybe this lesson should be in a longer lesson time
The topic was appropriate to our institute. What other topics could be shared with teachers that is broad , yet relevant?
~Back-to-School night presentation
~Address a school issue
~Teachers can make an animation to explain one or more of the school rules
~ Anything regarding standards
Cut down the time spent on the rationale to create more time for the activity
Emphasize the writing process as well as the planning and choices that student writers are doing while they plan their animation
